Community Engagement Ambassador

Role overview

TopSkills is recruiting Community Engagement Ambassadors to support outreach and participation in the Work Experience Programme (WEP).

This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about connecting people to meaningful opportunities, facilitating informed career conversations, and promoting practical pathways to work readiness and professional growth.

You will represent TopSkills across diverse engagement spaces, including institutions of higher learning (universities, colleges, and TVET institutions), professional environments, community networks, workplaces, and digital platforms. While emphasis is placed on learning environments, the role is open to engaging any individual who can benefit from structured work experience, mentorship, and career development support.

Reporting to: Corporate Relationship Lead

Engagement model: Short-term engagement, renewable based on impact and outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Promote awareness of the Work Experience Programme (WEP) across learning institutions, professional spaces, and community networks.
  • Engage individuals and groups in conversations around career development, work readiness, and experiential learning.
  • Support interested participants to understand the WEP journey and how it contributes to personal and professional growth.
  • Facilitate participation through clear guidance, follow-up, and relationship building.
  • Collaborate with the TopSkills team during outreach activities, forums, and structured engagement initiatives.
  • Share insights and feedback from the field to help improve programme delivery and reach.
  • Represent TopSkills professionally and uphold organizational values in all engagements.

Impact Focus: The role contributes directly to expanding access to structured work experience and supporting individuals to make informed career and work decisions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher qualification (or currently pursuing) in any field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage individuals and groups with clarity, empathy, and confidence.
  • Comfort working in both physical and digital engagement environments.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
  • Basic digital literacy (email, messaging platforms, simple online tools).
  • Previous experience in outreach, facilitation, community engagement, education, marketing, or advocacy is an added advantage.
  • Individuals who have previously participated in TopSkills programmes will have an added advantage.
