Basic computer usage task.

Project Title: Basic Computer Use and Lab Safety Practice

Objective: Apply basic computer knowledge through a simple hands-on task and safety awareness.

Project Instructions:

  1. 1. Identify the main parts of a computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse, CPU, storage).
  2. 2. Start a computer safely and log in if required.
  3. 3. Open a word processor and type a short paragraph about the uses of computers.
  4. 4. Save the file with a clear name and locate it in the correct folder.
  5. 5. Shut down the computer correctly following lab safety rules.
  6. 6. Consult your coach where necessary.

Evidence to Submit:

  • • List of computer parts and their functions.
  • • Screenshot or printed copy of the typed paragraph.
  • • Notes on lab safety rules followed.

Part C: Training Others

Teach or guide another learner on basic computer parts, uses, and safety.

Guidance:

  • • Explain what a computer is and its uses.
  • • Demonstrate how to start and shut down safely.
  • • Guide the learner to open a program and save a file.

Activities:

  1. 1. Identify and explain three computer parts.
  2. 2. Demonstrate safe lab practices (clean hands, proper handling).
  3. 3. Guide the learner to type and save a short file.

Part D: Assessment

Competency Levels:

1 = Not met

2 = Partial

3 = Satisfactory

4 = Excellent

Coach assessment: Learner completes the self-assessment using the 1-4 scale. The coach prepares a short quiz or conversation (outside the system if needed) and assigns the coach score.
