SECTION: PHYSICS

MODULE: 1

Part A: Units

1. Introduction to physics

2. Measurement

   (length, area, volume, mass, density, time, SI units, instruments)

Part B: Project

Measurement-based real-life activity.

Project Title: Measuring Everyday Objects and Quantities

Objective: Apply measurement skills to real-life objects using correct SI units and instruments.

Project Instructions:

  1. 1. Select at least five household or school objects (e.g., table, book, water bottle, stone, room).
  2. 2. Measure length, area, or volume where applicable using appropriate instruments (ruler, tape measure, measuring cylinder).
  3. 3. Measure mass using a scale or balance.
  4. 4. Record time for a simple activity (e.g., walking 10 meters, filling a bottle).
  5. 5. Calculate density for one solid or liquid using mass and volume.
  6. 6. Present your results clearly in SI units and consult your coach where necessary.

Evidence to Submit:

  • • A table of measurements with correct SI units.
  • • Calculations for area, volume, and density.
  • • Short reflection on measurement accuracy and challenges.

Submission

Accepted: PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, DOCX (max 8MB).

Part C: Training Others

Learner teaches measurement concepts.

Guidance:

  • • Explain what SI units are and why they are used.
  • • Demonstrate correct use of one measuring instrument.
  • • Guide the learner to measure two objects and record results.

Activities:

  1. 1. Explain length, mass, and time with examples.
  2. 2. Demonstrate a measurement (e.g., length of a desk).
  3. 3. Supervise a peer measuring area or volume.

Reflection:

  • • What did the learner understand well?
  • • What errors did they make?
  • • What support do you need from your coach?

Submission

Accepted: PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, DOCX (max 8MB).

Part D: Assessment

Competency Levels:

1 = Not met

2 = Partial

3 = Satisfactory

4 = Excellent

Coach assessment: Learner completes the self-assessment using the 1-4 scale. The coach prepares a short quiz or conversation (outside the system if needed) and assigns the coach score.

Self-assessment:

  • • Understanding of physics basics:
  • • Correct use of SI units:
  • • Measurement accuracy:
  • • Ability to calculate area, volume, or density:
