SECTION: PHYSICS

MODULE: 9

Part A: Units

1. Heat

a. Heat transfer

b. Specific heat capacity

c. Change of state

2. Sound

a. Production of sound

b. Properties of sound

c. Applications

Part B: Project

Investigate heat transfer and sound in daily life.

Project Title: Heat and Sound Observations

Objective: Demonstrate heat transfer and describe sound properties.

Project Instructions:

  1. 1. Identify examples of conduction, convection, and radiation.
  2. 2. Explain a change of state you observe (melting/boiling).
  3. 3. Describe how sound is produced using a simple example.
  4. 4. List two applications of sound in daily life.
  5. 5. Consult your coach where necessary.

Evidence to Submit:

  • • Heat transfer examples.
  • • Change of state notes.
  • • Sound production and applications.

Submission

Accepted: PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, DOCX (max 8MB).

Part C: Training Others

Teach a peer about heat and sound.

Guidance:

  • • Explain one heat transfer method.
  • • Discuss specific heat capacity with an example.
  • • Demonstrate sound production using an object.

Reflection:

  • • What did the learner understand well?
  • • What needed more explanation?
  • • What support do you need from your coach?

Submission

Accepted: PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, DOCX (max 8MB).

Part D: Assessment

Competency Levels:

1 = Expectations not met

2 = Partially met

3 = Satisfactorily met

4 = Excellently met

Coach assessment: Learner completes the self-assessment using the 1-4 scale. The coach prepares a short quiz or conversation (outside the system if needed) and assigns the coach score.

Self-assessment:

  • • Heat transfer and change of state:
  • • Specific heat capacity:
  • • Sound properties and applications:
