Project Title: Induction and Mains Electricity

Objective: Observe electromagnetic induction and calculate energy costs.

Project Instructions:

  1. 1. Perform a simple induction experiment and record observations.
  2. 2. Explain induced emf and the role of transformers.
  3. 3. Sketch a basic domestic wiring layout with safety points.
  4. 4. Calculate the cost of running one appliance for a day.
  5. 5. Solve one transformer or mains electricity problem.
  6. 6. Consult your coach where necessary.

Evidence to Submit:

  • • Experiment notes and explanation.
  • • Wiring sketch and safety notes.
  • • Cost calculation and problem solution.

Submission

Accepted: PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, DOCX (max 8MB).

Part C: Training Others

Guide a peer on induction and mains electricity concepts.

Guidance:

  • • Demonstrate how induction works with a simple setup.
  • • Explain transformers and their uses.
  • • Discuss safe domestic wiring practices.

Reflection:

  • • What did the learner understand well?
  • • Which part needed more explanation?
  • • What support do you need from your coach?

Submission

Accepted: PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, DOCX (max 8MB).

Part D: Assessment

Competency Levels:

1 = Expectations not met

2 = Partially met

3 = Satisfactorily met

4 = Excellently met

Coach assessment: Learner completes the self-assessment using the 1-4 scale. The coach prepares a short quiz or conversation (outside the system if needed) and assigns the coach score.

Self-assessment:

  • • Electromagnetic induction concepts:
  • • Generators and transformers:
  • • Mains electricity and cost calculations:
